The Blackberry River Inn in Norfolk's historic district may look like your run-of-the-mill historic hotel, but it's rumored to be the home of a long-dead spirit.
Construction on this beautiful mansion began in 1763. A network of tunnels exists underneath the inn, and it was likely a stop on the Underground Railroad.
If you're afraid of ghosts, this is one you don't have to fear. "The Lady In White" is said to roam the second floor of the hotel. There are no reports of her harming anyone.
She seems to be a protective spirit that watches over the inn. Guests say they feel calm when they are aware of her presence.
Her name is Francis, but there's not much available information about her life.
It's possible that she worked or lived on the property when it was a farm. She may have even been a traveler on the Underground Railroad.
Whether you believe in the paranormal or not, this is a beautiful hotel!
There's no shortage of bed and breakfasts in Connecticut, but this colonial-era home is truly unique.
