The world is a scary place for very real reasons. However, if we could imagine a zombie invasion it may make us smile in nervous excitement. As a moment of levity. we have compiled a bemusing guide for where to go in the unlikely event of a zombie apocalypse. If you’ve ever watched any horror movie with suspenseful scenes, you’ll surely imagine a spot to hide!
1. Alcatraz Island
An obvious and clear choice for a survivor stronghold during a zombie apocalypse. Why? Alcatraz is fortified, surrounded by water, with a strong and secure fortress. Also, Alcatraz comes equipped with a wide range of zombie defenses. Lastly, the proximity to San Francisco makes it best for San Franciscans.
2. The Armory Club - 1799 Mission Street, San Francisco, 94103
The armory in the Mission looks like a bunker and powerful building. The armory was constructed as an armory and arsenal for the United States National Guard in 1912–1914 and designed with a castle-like appearance in a Moorish Revival style.
One fun historical fact, the armory has in the past been used as a stronghold to keep people out. In 1934, the Armory served as a stronghold for the National Guard in their suppression of the San Francisco General Strike. However, this may be the best place in case of a real zombie threat.
3. Angel Island - Angel Island State Park, Tiburon, 4920
Getting to Angel Island is an effort, so you'll make the zombies have to work extra hard. Angel Island is a former immigration station and checkpoint, so entry can be more controlled.
4. Marshall’s Beach - San Francisco
This is an isolated beach near Baker Beach. This is a good spot because it requires a hike up and down a few steep areas. You'll have to climb over some slippery rocks to get close/right under the Golden Gate Bridge to really get away from zombies!
5. Mount Davidson - Dalewood Way & Myra Way, San Francisco, 94127
This is a great place to hike because Mount Davidson is a very steep hill hike. Also, Mount Davidson is the highest point in the city.
6. Bernal Hill - San Francisco
This is highly visible hill that is great for a lookout point for zombies too. Bernal is a climb up a steep, rocky hill, so this would be a place you need to prepare for in case of an emergency.
7. The Transamerica Pyramid - 600 Montgomery Street, San Francisco, 94111
This building is striking and will surely scare a few would be zombies. The Transamerica building has been a target in the past, but has always been a secure and fortified place to hide.
8. Seal Rocks - San Francisco
If things get bad, Seal Rocks would be the last refuge or escape in a zombie invasion. Seal Rocks is a group of small rock formation islands in the Lands End area of the Outer Richmond District of San Francisco.
9. Fort Funston - Skyline Blvd, San Francisco, 94132
This is a natural area to ward off visitors outside the area. Fort Funston is a former harbor defense installation located in the southwestern corner of San Francisco. The zombies will have a hard time trying to find any easy access here.
