Christmas is coming! Get into the holiday spirit with a trip to one fantastic street market rooted in Old World Christmas celebrations from Germany, Poland, and Austria. Let's take a look.
The Christkindlmarkt is celebrating its ninth year in Arizona with a two-day street market focused on presenting a fun environment for the whole family!
The markets are a German tradition and provide visitors with a chance to get into the Christmas spirit while shopping and eating.
The market will take place this weekend, December 9 and 10, and will feature food, music, and fun! Enjoy some freshly made German fare like sausage stew and lebcake, then wash it all down with mulled cider or a German brew. You can even take some of it home with you!
Additionally, you'll get to hear traditional Christmas songs as entertainment, enjoy a wide range of German food and beverages, and hear stories told by...
Old Saint Nikolaus! He will also make an appearance with gifts in tow for children attending the event. In German tradition, kids can place a shoe in a designated area and Saint Nikolaus will leave a gift behind in each shoe.
Sorry, Krampus and his friends aren't expected to make an appearance!
The Phoenix Christkindlmarkt will be hosted at Frontier Town in Cave Creek, located at 6245 East Cave Creek Road in Cave Creek. The market will take place on Saturday, December 9 from 10am to 8pm and Sunday, December 10 from 10am to 5pm. Admission is free and parking around Frontier Town is also free of charge. You can find details about the market on the Arizona Center for Germanic Cultures website.
