Sometimes you just want to run away from the stress of work and find a quiet town where you can relax for a day. While most of Delaware’s towns fit that description, there’s one in particular that makes for a peaceful day trip getaway.
Wyoming, Delaware is a tiny farming community with just about 1,500 residents.
While it may seem like this rural town is sparse and isolated, it's a great place to spend a day relaxing in the sun.
Your first stop in Wyoming should be Fifer Orchards.
This famous family-run orchard is home to a U-Pick farm and a country store that's always stocked with fresh food and baked goods.
This time of year, stop by for apple cider and fresh donuts, candy apples, pumpkin pie, and more.
In the spring and summer, Fifer is famous for fresh strawberries, cucumbers, blueberries, and peaches. Pick your own or sign up for their CSA box to always have fresh fruits and veggies on hand.
Next, head over to the historic Brecknock Park.
This park was originally an estate known as Howell's Mill, and for decades farmers brought their grain here. The historic farmhouse was built in the 18th century.
The stunning Piccadilly Castle is one of the best playgrounds you'll ever find.
This enormous wooden playground is one of a kind! Kids will also love the mile long nature trail along the Issac Branch.
For lunch, you can't beat Sal's Pizza for the best slice in town.
Of course, Sal's might be the *only* slice in town! And technically... it's not even in Wyoming. Camden, Delaware is a tiny town that's often lumped in with Wyoming, and you'll hear Camden-Wyoming more often than not.
Order a tasty New York style pie, or some of their crispy wings.
You can't beat greasy fried food after a day of walking, shopping, and exploring!
A quick getaway to this hidden Delaware farm town is sure to be the best thing you do this fall.
Fresh air, fresh food, and a chance to connect with nature are all waiting for you!
