Delaware’s Old Fashioned Ice Cream Festival Will Make You Feel Like A Kid Again
Food Festivals are a summer tradition in Delaware. The Peach Festival draws thousands of visitors every year to try our state’s favorite fruit, the State Fair is home to fried everything, and more and more food truck festivals are popping up throughout the state. However, there’s one gem of a food festival that has won everyone over – and is repeatedly named one of the best food festivals in the state! The Beautiful Rockwood Park in Wilmington hosts Delaware's famous Ice Cream Festival every June.
There is no general parking on site, but shuttle busses run continuously from the event's designated lots. Find them below:
Merchant’s Square (4300 Governor Printz Blvd.)
Mt. Pleasant High School (5201 Washington St. Ext.)
Rockwood Office Park (503 Carr Road)
This year, the festival is on June 24th (from 10 am - 7 pm) and June 25th (from 11 am - 5 pm).
Not only will you find great food and ice cream vendors, but local businesses set up tents to sell crafts, gifts, and even special treats for your family pets!
Admission is just $5, and kids 12 and under get in for free. To make it even better, kids also get a free ice cream cone (courtesy of Hy-Point!)
The event is dog friendly, as well! Your family pooch can come in, as long as he's well behaved and on a leash. They're even allowed on the shuttle busses.
Every year, dozens of ice cream vendors bring out their most unique creations in an attempt to win over the Rockwood Ice Cream Festival crowd.
In addition to ice cream, you'll find amazing fair food throughout the festival! Pick up a plate piled high with cheesy Butterfly Fries along with a big cup of Lemonade and enjoy!
Your family will have a blast watching the live music, street performers, and face painters at work!
But, of course, the real highlight here is the ice cream. A dozen ice cream and frozen treat vendors are scattered throughout the festival, in between plenty of other delicious food trucks.
