The Boldest And Biggest Meteor Shower In Delaware This Year Will Be On Display In December
Undoubtedly, one of the most magical things about the world is the starry night sky. We look forward to anything celestial, and this year we’re in for something extra-special! The largest meteor shower in Delaware will take place in December and we’re ready to be astounded! The 2022 Geminid meteor shower will be the biggest and boldest of the year, just in time to welcome us into 2023!
If you're in Delaware, make sure to find a dark and clear spot to look toward the sky from Wednesday, December 14, 2022, through Thursday, December 15, 2022. The Geminid meteor shower, the largest of the entire year, will be on display for all to see.
This meteor shower occurs when "asteroid dust" comes in contact with the Earth. The meeting typically takes place in December and creates a beautiful display of near constant “shooting stars."
Of course, they're not actually shooting stars. Instead, the lights in a meteor event are typically comets. Interestingly, the Geminid shower is actually formed by the 3200 Phaethon asteroid.
To make sure you have the best viewing opportunity, be sure to find a dark spot area. Here in Delaware, a great option is Rap Pond State Park. But, luckily for us there are plenty of other great stargazing spots.
Do you have any celestial shows you recall loving over the years? Let us know in the comments so we can prepare for this one. And, if you have any recommendations for darker places for the best viewing we’d love to check them out.
While the Geminid meteor shower in Delaware won’t last all month, there’s still plenty to enjoy. Start by checking out these awesome places in Delaware!
