When spring arrives, it’s time to plan what spring festivals in Delaware to attend this year. Did you know that Delaware has its very own Derby Day? While it’s not as crowded (or expensive!) as the Kentucky Derby, Winterthur’s Point to Point Steeplechase is an exciting horse race in New Castle County, and it’s one of the best events in the country for a spring picnic tailgate party.

What are some of the best things to do in Delaware in spring?

Once the snow and ice melt, the landscapes around the First State come alive with greenery, colorful blooms, and things to do. Here are some of the best things to do in Delaware during the spring season:

  • Check out what’s blooming at Goodstay Gardens. This hidden gem of a garden is located on the University of Delaware campus in Wilmington. Take a stroll and check out the flowers in bloom for the season.
  • Visit the Delaware Botanic Gardens at Pepper Creek. Located in Dagsboro, this is the only botanical garden in the southern part of the state. Check out the daffodils in bloom as well as the butterflies flying around. It’s magical!
  • Visit one of the state, city, or town parks. Spend some time enjoying the great outdoors at parks like Wilmington’s Nemour Gardens, Cape Henlopen State Park in Lewes, or Delaware Seashore State Park.
