10 Thoughts Everyone From Delaware Has When Growing Up
Growing up in Delaware has its ups and downs. We live in a small state, which means we get to know everyone, and we get to know everything pretty well. Though some of us grew up in Wilmington and others in Gumboro, we’ve got a few things in common. How many of these thoughts bring you back to your childhood?
1. State Fair week already?
Summer goes by quickly, and the State Fair is the first sign that it's halfway over!
2. Are we there yet?
Beach traffic makes our drives to the coast a lot more time consuming... and we just want to get to the ocean!
3. I would
really love a trip to Grotto's right now
Any time and every time.
4. All sort of conflicting thoughts about chickens.
Delawareans know that chickens make GREAT pets, and they're so much fun to hang out with. Still, though... nobody likes cleaning out the coop, and the smell from the big poultry farms is just terrible.
5. What season is it?
Delaware's weather is unpredictable. This past year, winter extended well into April, and in the past, storms, blizzards and heat waves haven't paid much attention to the calendar. It's always a little weird trying to plan an outfit in advance in this state.
6. Sunscreen? Whatever.
We've all ignored our Mom's reminder to reapply after swimming in the ocean.
7. Okay, okay... maybe I should have listened to Mom on that one.
There's nothing worse than getting burnt on your first day at the beach.
8. There's NOTHING to do here.
Nothing. No state parks to hike, no Main Streets to stroll, no boardwalks to enjoy... Delaware's boring.
9. DID YOU JUST CALL MY STATE BORING?!
Look, we're FROM here. We can talk smack on the First State. But the second some out-of-towner pulls out a "Dela-where?" joke, it's on.
10. Okay, maybe this state is pretty great after all.
Delaware definitely steals a piece of your heart.
