9 Undeniable Things You’ll Find In Every Delaware Home
When you visit your Delawarean friends, does their house ever look a little familiar? We’re a pretty predictable group of people, and you’re all but guaranteed to find these items somewhere in every Delaware home.
1. Old tickets from Funland.
Yeah, they expire, but nobody seems to ever throw them out. Even when you see them at the back of your junk drawer, they inevitably get to stay.
2. Random UD stuff from the Newark 5 & 10
Even if you didn't go to UD, you've got a shot glass, t-shirt, or maybe even a Blue Hen Foam Finger lying around.
3. Some sort of rooster.
Maybe it is hanging on the wall, maybe it is in the garden, or maybe it's just hanging out in your basement, and you really don't know what to do with it.
4. A bunch of seashells for that project we are DEFINITELY going to get around to.
Maker: Kate Caton
My best friend got married on the beach this year, and our other best friend made seashell bouquets for the bridesmaids with collected shells. The rest of us? Well, we keep them in a jar or a basket and swear we will come up with a craft for them one day.
5. Corn on the cob holders
We do a lot of backyard grilling, and we always have a ton of these spiky holders lying around in case somebody absolutely needs them.
6. Old Bay
We aren't quite as crazy about the stuff as our western neighbors, but we do really, really enjoy Old Bay on crabs, popcorn, chips, chicken... you name it.
7. Crab crackers
We learn how to pick crabs from a young age, but we still keep some of these around in case out-of-staters come to visit.
8. Cheesy boardwalk souveniers
Whether you have a stuffed tiger from a boardwalk game hiding in your closet, or that necklace with your name written on rice still in your jewelry box, sometimes we just have a hard time letting go of these summer treasures.
9. Tickets or a pamphlet from a DuPont mansion
Every Delaware home has a junk drawer where these things tend to collect. Whether it's a ticket to Yuletide or a map of Hagley, these reminders of Delaware's first family stick around!
