9 Things You Need To Know When Dating Someone From Delaware
Are you new to the state and wondering what your Delaware love life may look like? Or has your summer fling from Nalu at Dewey Beach turned into more than just a fling? Regardless of how you found yourself dating a Delawarean, welcome to the best kind of life – a Delaware lifestyle suits just about everyone. Here are a few things you really ought to know about life with a Delaware date.
1. We live for the beach.
Even in the dead of winter, we head to the beach to find our peace. There's nothing like sand between our toes and the sound of the waves lapping on the beach... so be ready for a road trip at any time.
2. And we're super picky about our seafood.
Living close to the bay and ocean means we're used to only the freshest seafood, so we're picky about crabcakes and shellfish outside of the area. Don't take offense, we just have good taste!
3. We'll always be up for taking the long way home.
Delawareans are used to taking the winding, country roads to avoid beach traffic, or regular traffic. We'll skip the highway any time.
4. And we might make you stop at roadside farm stands.
One perk to living in Delaware is how close our towns are to local farms. Even in New Castle County, we can get fresh produce from roadside farm stands - and we'll want to pull over for our favorite seasonal veggies.
5. We love adventure.
There are so many cool adventures you can have in Delaware - from zip lining over Lums Pond to driving NASCARs around the Monster Mile. Since we grew up with these unique attractions, we're always down to find something thrilling to do.
6. We've got a lot of state pride.
Delawareans are really excited about our history, landmarks and state. While it's easy for others to say "dela-where?!" and make fun of our small state, we don't appreciate it, and we'll quickly set you straight.
7. We're great at cooking.
Delawareans make the best Delmarva dishes, like chicken and slippery dumplings. We'll make you amazing food, as long as you appreciate some home cooking!
8. We'll definitely want to go to the State Fair.
Date night in July is easy - take us to the State Fair! We love the fried food, carnival games and thrilling rides.
9. We love to be outside, and we're always up for a hike.
Our state parks are so underrated, and we love to show them off. Let us plan a hiking trip and you'll be amazed at what you've been missing in the first state this whole time. If you love kayaking, we'll bring you to Trap Pond or Bombay Hook, where you'll find fun and romance while we paddle the serene water.
