Streets in DC are crazy. If you’ve driven around here, then you already know that. But honestly, have you ever noticed the street names around DC? Because honestly, some of them are quite strange. Here are the 8 craziest street names around DC.

Capitalsaurus Court is in Southeast DC near the Capitol Hill neighborhood. It got its name because dinosaur bones were discovered there.

Indian Head Highway is also known as Maryland Route 210 and runs from Potomac Avenue in Indian Head into DC.

Quackenbos Street runs from Northwest into Southwest DC. It was named after a prominent political DC family.

Frying Pan Road is in a DC suburb in Herndon, Virginia. According to history, the whole neighborhood was once called Frying Pan which is why the name stuck!

Father Hurley Boulevard in Maryland is named after a Catholic priest. Father Hurley was an integral part of the community who was the first priest for Mother Seton Catholic Church, and helped found the Germantown Alliance.

We have no idea why this road in Frederick Maryland is named after a delicious breakfast pastry but we're so glad that it was.

Gallows Road in Virginia has a darker history. According to local experts, prisoners were lead down this road to actual gallows where they were executed.

Snickersville Turnpike is named after the town it runs through: Snickersville Virginia. Unfortunately, there are no Snickers candy lining the road as one would hope.
