8 Amazingly Fun County Fairs Around DC You Must Go To
County fairs are one of the best American past times. They have thrilling rides, exciting games, and fantastic fried foods. You may think living in a city like DC that there are no fairs you can enjoy. But there are probably many more county fairs in the DC area that you must visit this summer and fall!
We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life as we all practice social and physical distancing. While we’re continuing to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, we don’t expect or encourage you to go check them out immediately. We believe that supporting local attractions is important now more than ever and we hope our articles inspire your future adventures! 1. Howard County Fair
The Howard County Fair began in 1946 and is dedicated to displaying exhibits and holding competitions of agricultural and horticultural products. There are amusement rides, games and live music! You can also watch pie eating contests, tractor pulls and so much more! The fair takes places August 5-12 at 2210 Fairgrounds Road W in Friendship Maryland.
2. Montgomery County Agricultural Fair
The Montgomery County Fair began in 1949 and has more than 50 buildings filled with 5,000 animals every year. In addition to contests and competitions, there is a carnival, live music and plenty of delicious fair food! The fair will take place August 11-19th at Montgomery County Fairgrounds, 16 Chestnut Street in Gaithersburg.
3. Anne Arundel County
Most people recognize the Anne Arundel County Fair because of the Fair Giant who has been a fixture at the fairgrounds since the 1990s. You can find unique items from local artists, watch tractor pulls, sportsmen competitions and see live entertainment! Anne Arundel County Fair will be September 13-17 at Fairgrounds on Generals Highway
4. Prince William County Fair
Prince William County Fair is Virginia’s largest county fair featuring carnival rides, livestock exhibits, barn shows and more. There is even a rodeo and demolition derbies at the fair! This year the fair is August 11-19 at Prince William County Fairgrounds in Manassas, VA.
5. Arlington County Fair
This fair is one of the largest in the Northern Virginia area. The area is transformed into a bright and colorful event space featuring rides and games, delicious fair foods and more! The fair will take place August 16-20 at Thomas Jefferson Community Center at 3501 S. Second Street.
6. The Great Frederick Fair
This fair is one of the oldest fairs in the country dating back to 1862! There will be musical entertainment, tractor pulls, equine show case and so much food! It will take place September 15-23 at Frederick Fairgrounds at 797 E. Patrick Street in Frederick.
7. Charles County Fair
The Charles County Fair features old-fashioned fair fun across 35 acres in La Plata Maryland. They have varied exhibits, pig races, games, pony rides, performances and carnival rides! The fair will take place on September 14-17 at Charles County Fairgrounds at 8440 Fairgrounds Road in La Plata Maryland.
8. Calvert County Fair
The Calvert County Fair has been fun for all ages since the1800s! Today the fair features contest, competitions, entertainment and livestock exhibits! It will take place September 27- October 1st at the Calvert County Fairgrounds.
