DC is secretly a hiker’s paradise. There are so many incredible hiking trails right inside the district that are truly breathtaking and a whole lot of fun. If you’re looking for a fantastic hiking trail, try one of the 6 amazing hiking trails in DC.
1. Potomac Heritage Trail
The Potomac Heritage Trail is a stunning trail that connects to the Potomac Heritage Trail network of trails. The trail will take you into Virginia and offers great views of the District and the Potomac River.
2. C&O Towpath
The C&O extends 184.5 miles into Maryland. There's a beautiful spot right in Georgetown that takes you along the picturesque canal. Perfect for walking, running, hiking and biking.
3. Capital Crescent Trail
The Capital Crescent Trail in DC is an 11 mile mixed-use trail that goes from DC to Maryland. It's a popular trail that's often crowded, especially on the weekends.
4. Western Ridge Trail
The Western Ridge Trail is in Rock Creek Park. It's just under 5 miles and takes you underneath ridges and around the prettiest parts of the park.
5. Anacostia Riverwalk Trail
The Anacostia Riverwalk Trail is one of the newest trails in DC. It takes hikers and bikers along the Anacostia River and connects into Maryland.
6. Billy Goat Trail
The Billy Goat Trail is technically not in DC but it's such a great trail that we added it to the list anyway. The Billy Goat is a 4.7 mile trail that consists of three main trails. Each one just as gorgeous as the next!
