When you think of wine regions in the United States, the Nutmeg State may not be the first place to come to mind. However, there is a burgeoning wine industry in Connecticut. Visiting a winery is such a delightful experience. Learning about how the wine is produced, seeing the grapes grow on the vines, and, of course, sampling the wares are some of the best joys you can get in life. There’s no better time to visit wineries in Connecticut than now. Springtime is here, and the vineyards are beautiful, all decked out in their seasonal greenery!

Your first stop is at the lovely Land of Nod Winery. This place has been around since before the American Revolution and gets its name from a Robert Louis Stevenson poem. The 200-acre farm sells not only wine, but also yarn made from the farm's sheep and locally-produced goodies like maple syrup. You can get more information on the Land of Nod website.

Next up on our Connecticut wine trail road trip is Jerram Winery. This little vineyard offers up 11 different wines. They're open during the growing season each year. You can get more information and hours on Jerram Winery's Facebook.

You'll then take a brief break from all the vineyards to head to the beautiful Kent Falls State Park, because, really, is there any better pairing than wine and waterfalls in Connecticut? This 307-acre state park has been named the most beautiful place in Connecticut and it's easy to see why. The waterfall that shares the park's name is a series of glorious cascades totaling 250 feet.
4. Hopkins Vineyard: 25 Hopkins Rd, Warren, CT 06777

Hopkins Vineyard is in the remote little town of Warren, tucked away in an idyllic setting. This Connecticut winery has won multiple awards for its quality array of beverages. It was the first winery-established wine bar in the Nutmeg State.

Ready for even more wine? The Jones Family Farm is an excellent option. This sprawling farm has a variety of activities throughout the year. You may be familiar with their u-pick fruit in the summer, fall pumpkin patches, or Christmas trees in the winter. One thing that stays around all year, though, is their wine!

Gouveia Vineyards is made up of 140 acres of scenic paradise. This place is astoundingly beautiful and offers nearly 20 different varieties of wine.
