If you’ve been in Connecticut a while, you probably made loads of memories at Savin Rock Amusement Park. This exciting attraction had it all: roller coasters, fortune tellers, and delicious frozen custard. It’s always fun to take a glimpse back in time. Let’s look back at this cherished, now defunct Connecticut theme park.

Established in the 1870s, Savin Rock Amusement Park was the Connecticut equivalent of Coney Island.

Walking into this colorful destination was like entering another world. Twinkling lights and lively music followed you everywhere your turned.

In its heyday, Savin Rock Amusement Park attracted 1.2 million visitors each year.
And this attraction just kept getting better. In 1922, Liberty Pier was added to the park.

With this new addition came some magnificent thrill rides. People always raved about The Devil roller coaster.

But it wasn't always sunshine and rainbows. The vibrant pier was destroyed by a fire in 1932, and The Great Hurricane of 1938 wiped out the beloved Devil and Thunderbolt roller coasters.

Ever persistent, the theme park returned for summertime fun. They even rebuilt the famed Thunderbird roller coaster.

In the 1950s and '60s, this place was full of life once again. People always loved munching on a scrumptious hotdog from Jimmies.

Even though the theme park is now defunct, this historic hot dog stand still remains. To learn more about Jimmies of Savin Rock, visit their website here. This place has truly stood the test of time.
Sadly, this theme park waned in popularity in the early '60s. By 1966, this attraction was no more.

However, you can still see relics from this old destination at the Savin Rock Museum and Learning Center in West Haven. You'll find it at 6 Rock Street.
