Take This Unforgettable Road Trip To 4 Of Connecticut’s Least-Visited State Parks
Sometimes you just want to take the road less traveled. If that sounds like your idea of a fun journey, then check out this road trip in Connecticut! It leads to some of the less popular state parks in Connecticut. They’ve got all the beauty and history of some of the state’s more popular destinations, but far fewer people at them!
The entire trip will take around 2.5 hours of driving time. Obviously, you'll want to add a bit of time for exploration at each of the parks. If you'd like to add or remove stops, you can check out the customizable itinerary at Google Maps.
Your first stop will be at the 400-acre Mianus River State Park that spans across Stamford and Greenwich. This place is home to some of the best hiking trails in Connecticut. The park has some great biking and hiking trails and is filled with magnificent trees. It's a great escape from the urban sprawl surrounding it!

Ferry Landing State Park is a small park that features an accessible boardwalk where anyone can fish. The park is quite tiny, but it's got a lovely little walking trail that follows along the shoreline.

Your next park is not technically a state park, but we do consider it one of the best parks in Connecticut. You'll be driving right through New Haven if you follow the road trip we have planned out, so you may as well make a stop at the beautiful East Rock Park if you have the time. The 427-acre park features incredible scenery and great trails.

Stoddard Hill State Park is home to a unique trail that will take you right through a historic cemetery. The park is right along the banks of the Thames River and it's another one that's a great spot for fishing.

Another of our favorite state parks in Connecticut is Bolton Notch State Park. This underrated gem has 95 acres of untouched wilderness. You'll find lakes, forests, caves, and more. The trails here are fantastic!
