Paddling At Lighthouse Point Park Is A Magical Connecticut Adventure That Will Light Up Your Soul
Whether you’re in a rowboat, kayak, or motorboat, there’s something special about a day spent on the water. Feeling the sun on your skin and the breeze in your hair as you peacefully float over the surface of a pond or river: there’s truly nothing like it. With all the waterways we have in the Nutmeg State, there’s no shortage of places to enjoy an afternoon paddling in Connecticut. One of the very best places to do just that is at Lighthouse Point Park. This 82-acre oasis is in New Haven, right along the Long Island Sound, and it’s the perfect place to enjoy an afternoon on the water.
Lighthouse Point Park gets its name from the historic lighthouse that lies on the easternmost point of New Haven Harbor. The lighthouse was built in 1847 and though it's no longer in use, it's an interesting piece of history to check out.
Whether your vehicle of choice is a kayak or simple paddle board, you'll have a grand time here. Those with less experience on the water are advised to stay close to shore, where there shouldn't be much tidal action.
