Light displays are one of the most beautiful parts of the holiday season, but you don’t have to rely on your neighbors to experience the joy of an illuminated street. Lucky for you, your favorite state is also a fan of light displays. Check it out!
1. Constitution Plaza
Thinking of spending an evening in the city? When this plaza lights up, it's transformed into one of the most beautiful places in the state, and a place of many proposals. Located at 1 Constitution Plaza, Hartford, CT 06103.
2. Lake Compounce Holiday Lights
The one hundred foot tall lighted tree is the tallest in the state! With thousands of bulbs, this light show is a rainbow spectacular.
Lake Compounce is located at 186 Enterprise Drive, Bristol, CT 06010. The event runs November 25 through December 18 on Fridays and Saturdays.
3. Ivoryton Illuminations
Over three hundred thousand lights are used to convert this village into a magical dreamland. Santa Claus appears too, on a wonderfully lighted sleigh.
Located in the village of Ivoryton. The event runs from December 3rd through January 5th.
4. Northern Lights Limited Train Rides with Santa
Hop aboard a vintage train that's been covered on lights, both inside and out, and head to Santa's workshop for a fun filled evening.
You can catch this train at the Railroad Museum of New England, 242 East Main Street, Thomaston, CT 06787. The event runs from November 25 to December 23.
5. Fantasy of Lights
Lighthouse Point Park comes to live with one of the most intricate light displays around. Travel under tunnels and pass bright beautiful images as you go!
Lighthouse Point Park is located at 2 Lighthouse Road, East Haven, CT 06512. The event runs from November 18th to January 1st.
6. Silver Lights at Hubbard Park
Glowing lightbulb versions of animals and flowers appear throughout, and there's even a light tower! This one is perfect for sparking a little winter romance.
Located at 999 West Main Street, Meriden, CT 06451. The event runs from November 22nd to January 2nd.
7. Holiday Light Fantasia
Two miles of lights make this event one of the most popular in the state. More than 1 million lights are used in the making of the displays!
Located at Goodwin Park, 1130 Maple Avenue, Hartford, CT 06114. The event runs from November 24 to January 1st.
8. Tunnel Of Lights
This three mile trolley ride through the twinkling tunnels is complimented by model train displays and hot cocoa at the Visitor Center.
Located at the Connecticut Trolley Museum, 58 North Road, East Windsor, CT 06088. The event runs from November 25th to December 30th.
9. Festival of Lights
New England charm explodes in this 18th century village. Meet Santa, and visit the boutiques as you admire the glow.
Located at 27 Coogan Boulevard, Mystic, CT 06355. The event is held on the evening of December 9th.
10. That House In Milford
It takes a lot of lights to earn the title of "that house" and this one delivers year after year! Stopping by is a local tradition.
You'll have to wait at least until after Thanksgiving for this one! Located at 75 Meadows End Road, Milford, CT 06460.
11. Niantic Light Parade
Bring a lawn chair and relax as the light show comes to you! These moving displays are an excellent show of what happens when you use your imagination.
The parade will move down Main Street in Niantic. The event takes place December 10th at 6:00pm.
