Despite their small size, these places are often full of attractions, and often boast lots of natural beauty as well. One of the earliest towns to be settled in Connecticut is Killingworth. The Middlesex County town has a population of around 7,000, so it’s not particularly big, but it has an expansive history and several great attractions.
A stroll through Killingworth will show off the area's history. The town is home to plenty of historic buildings, as it's one of the oldest towns in Connecticut. Killingworth was founded in 1667 and named after the English town of Kenilworth.

In addition to its historical prominence, Killingworth also has great scenery. The lovely Chatfield Hollow State Park is a must-visit spot. The park itself boasts 412 acres, and it is right next to Cockaponset State Forest, so this is a massive area perfect for outdoor recreation.
