This Connecticut River Festival Is The Perfect Finale To Summer
Summer is winding down and in just a little over a week, the kids will be back to school. Treat yourself and the kids to one last hurrah with a trip to this Connecticut riverfront event that promises to be fun for the whole family. The Dragon Boat & Asian Festival will be a fantastic finale to your summer and it’s free!
The unique Dragon Boat & Asian Festival will take place at the Mortensen Riverfront Plaza on Saturday, August 17, 2019. The free family-friendly event celebrates Asian culture with an action-packed day on the waterfront in Hartford.
The day will be full of music, entertainment, kids activities, and dragon boat racing. The festivities begin at 8 a.m. and continue throughout the day until 4 p.m.
One of the highlights of the festival is the exciting dragon boat races. This event is one of the Top 10 Dragon Boat Races in the country!
Competitors will race on the Connecticut River for a distance of 500 thrilling meters to the finish line. The first heat will take off at 8 a.m.
There will also be a full line-up of live entertainment. Enjoy watching the fantastic Asian dance routines and colorful costumes.
Get a kick out of the amazing martial arts demonstrations.
Kids activities will run non-stop from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. with a variety of ingenious arts and crafts activities like origami making and Lucky Bamboo crafts.
Watching all the action might make you hungry. You'll find a fantastic selection of food and merchandise vendors at the plaza all day.
