Connecticut is one of the oldest states in the country and has a deep history. Lake Compounce is an example of this distinction as the oldest continuously operating amusement park in the United States.

The Boulder Dash holds the distinction of being the first ever wooden roller coaster built on the side of a mountain. The entire ride boasts a 4,725-foot track and a 115-foot first drop. It was built in 2000.
Lake Compounce offers other notable attractions. Among them: The Wildcat, which was built in 1927 and is considered a centerpiece of the amusement park. The wooden roller coaster is one of the world's oldest and has never left its original site.

Each Halloween, Lake Compounce features spooky décor and special exhibits. Visitors can take a 45-minute stroll through the park and see castles, catacombs, graveyards, and special effects.
