This Small Town General Store In Connecticut Sells The Most Amazing Homemade Fudge You’ll Ever Try

Do you long for the days before Walmart and Amazon, back when you could run up the street to a general store and pick up everything you needed? Don’t fret, we’ve got plenty of general stores in Connecticut, even today! They may be few and far between compared to how common they once were, but these places are gems that feel like a step back in time. One of our favorites is Franklin’s General Store in Mystic. You can get a lot of things here, but one of the best is the homemade fudge. If you love the rich, flavorful taste of a good fudge, this is one place that belongs on your Nutmeg State bucket list.

Franklin's General Store opened up in 1985 and is tucked away in Olde Mystick Village. This open-air shopping district is absolutely adorable.

The set of more than 40 shops and restaurants is designed to look like a colonial New England town.
Franklin's is a throwback to simpler times. The shop has a variety of jams, jellies, honeys, cheeses, and homemade goods like candles and soaps.
