For The Best Clam Chowder Of Your Life, Head To This Hole-In-The-Wall Seafood Restaurant In Connecticut
One of the most quintessentially New England things that our region is known for is its delicious seafood. The Nutmeg State certainly lives up to expectations: we have a variety of amazing seafood restaurants in Connecticut. Looking for shrimp, fried meals, oysters, lobster? We’ve got them all here, in both our simple little seafood shacks and our fine dining establishments. One seafood classic that’s a favorite of many is clam chowder. And if you’re looking for clam chowder in Connecticut, it doesn’t get much better than Clam Castle in Madison.
The Clam Castle is a seasonal seafood shack in Connecticut that opens each April for warm-weather dining. They're located just past Hammonasset Beach and have been serving up delicious seafood for the last 60 years.
This little place doesn't look like much, but it sure is tasty! The proximity to the water means that all the seafood is as fresh as can be. There's indoor and outdoor dining, and it's casual, so no need to get dressed up.
They've got fish tacos, fried seafood, and other dishes you'd expect to find at a seafood restaurant in Connecticut, but the real star of the show here is their soups.
They have lobster bisque, New England clam chowder, and a tomato-based Rhode Island clam chowder, and they're all superb.
The Clam Castle has tasty clams, as their name suggests, but the lobster is also magnificent. Maine may be more famous for its lobster rolls, but we have some fantastic lobster rolls in Connecticut, too, and the Clam Castle's are some of the best!
