11 Foolproof Ways To Spot An Imposter In Colorado
When you hail from the Centennial State, you tend to notice certain “red flags” quicker than others. For example, you can probably pick out an outsider faster than the speed of light, thanks to these 11 foolproof ways to spot an imposter in Colorado:
1. They want to eat at Casa Bonita.
Look, Casa Bonita may seem like the most epic thing ever (and in terms of atmosphere, it kind of is), but one bite of the food and you will realize that you made a terrible, terrible mistake... especially when there are so many amazing Mexican and Southwestern restaurants here.
2. They go on and on about legal marijuana.
Yes, Colorado legalized weed... but that was literally 4+ years ago. If the novelty of that has not worn off, you are obviously not from around here.
3. They wear Chiefs gear...
4. ...and/or Lakers apparel.
Either you're a Broncos/Nuggets/Avs/Rockies/Rapids fan or you are an outsider and you are wrong.
5. They're experiencing elevation sickness.
Does standing in the same spot for too long make you ill? Do you feel like you are going to pass out every time you lay down? That's called elevation sickness and it is a pretty good indicator that you are not from around these parts! We've adapted to high-altitude life.
6. They order a domestic beer at dinner.
We *may* let ordering a Coors or PBR slide, but ask for anything else and we'll pretend we don't know you.
7. They don't get their meal smothered in green chile.
Burrito, cheeseburger, vanilla ice cream... it's all 10,000 times better when served under a hot bed of perfectly seasoned chile!
8. They become upset over bad weather in May.
Welcome to Colorado. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
9. They run inside during a storm.
Whenever Kathy Sabine tells you that severe weather is on the horizon and you need to take cover, a true Coloradan "takes cover" on top of the roof with a camera in hand. Our dramatic storms are the best show put on by Mother Nature!
10. They think wine country is in California.
If you think the best wine is made in California and NOT along the Western Slope of Colorado, you may be one of the many mistaken Californians who moves to Colorado and complains about it not being California.
11. Finally, a bonafide imposter will always stop at a red light.
Green means go.
Yellow means go.
Red means you have about 15 more seconds to gun it before it's time to stop for oncoming traffic.
