The Quirkiest Town In Colorado That You’ll Absolutely Love
Colorado has a town for every taste. Do you consider yourself to be somewhat crunchy or granola? Check out Boulder! Do you prefer conservatives with Christian values? Colorado Springs is for you! Spanish architecture with lots of history? Colorado’s first town (San Luis) has all of the above! While we enjoy just about every place in Colorado, we just can’t seem to get enough of this fun and oh-so quirky mountain town:
You have visited the iconic Colorado town of Aspen and have seen all there is to see within its city limits... but have you taken the time to visit its neighboring community of Snowmass?
Nestled between both Aspen and Basalt, Snowmass is an unincorporated community that -- like Aspen -- is home to some of the most jaw-dropping scenery in the state.
Originally gaining popularity amongst ranchers (because of its lush land and abundant natural water supply), Snowmass is now a premiere outdoor recreation destination, featuring pristine skiing, hiking, biking, and horse riding opportunities.
Just what makes this small mountain community so unique and quirky? For starters, there are the people...
(Not only are Snowmass residents fun, they are also super kind and welcoming!)
...and one-of-a-kind attractions (like Sanctuaries in the Snow), which makes for a fun list of things to see and do around this gem of a town.
Sanctuaries in the Snow are a collection of different shrines throughout the area, including tributes to Jimi Hendrix, Bowling, Calvin & Hobbs, and Elvis (pictured). A full list of shrines and their whereabouts can be found
