Sitting at an elevation of 6,535 feet, Calhan is the highest non-mountain town in the country, as well as the home of the vibrant Paint Mines Archeological District.

If you are looking for peace and tranquility, look no further than the stunning Paint Mines, a "unique blending of geological, archaeological, historical and ecological resources" that spans 750 acres and features incredible rock formations painted by area Native Americans 9,000 years ago.
