Colorado is home to 15 mountain ranges and more than 54 14ers, so we have many stunning mountain ranges to choose from. Despite this, however, the famous Rocky Mountains are still considered the biggest and best. While they are gorgeous and unique, we happen to think another range may just be the most beautiful in America:

Originally called the Huajatolla (or "double mountain") by the Comanche, the Spanish Peaks are historically significant in several ways, beginning with the fact that they guided the original resident Native Americans, Spanish fur traders, and settlers alike, and were once considered critical religious grounds by the Ute, Comanche, and Apache.

In addition to the mountains themselves, the area surrounding the Spanish Peaks is also quite stunning, as the 19,226-acre Spanish Peaks Wilderness is located inside the iconic San Isabel National Forest.
