There’s a Winery On This Beautiful Farm In Colorado And You Have To Visit
I have a challenge for you: Can you name a place that more charming than an old farm? No? It’s hard to do, I agree… However, after much thought, I have come up the answer: It’s a beautiful farm that doubles as both a relaxing bed and breakfast AND one-of-a-kind winery. Let’s check it out:
Located near the Western Slope town of Hotchkiss, Mesa Winds Farm & Winery is a self-sustaining 36-acre farm with jaw-dropping views of the nearby Uncompahgre Plateau.
As if the view itself wasn't enough, wait until you partake in the farm's other offerings, like their bountiful 6-acre vineyard...
...14-acres worth of apples and peaches...
...and the pièce de résistance: wines crafted from the farm's home-grown fruits.
(As per Mesa Winds'
website, "The soils on our farm are clay loam with limestone gravel and caliche base, similar to soil composition in Burgundy. Our vineyard altitude is 5800-5700' on a southern slope so vines ripen in hot sun and cool nights. This gives the grapes the right balance of sweetness and acid without winemaker's fiddling. We allow our grapes to express the unique character of place in the wines we produce. Our vineyards are certified organic and wines minimally sulfited."
In addition to their on-site orchard and various wines for sale, Mesa Winds also offers delicious wine tastings and...
...overnight stays in one of their recently revamped "picker cabins"!
A stay in one of the comfortable cabins costs $110/night and includes a homemade breakfast.
