Under 1 Mile Long, Colorow Mountain Forest Loop Is A Totally Kid-Friendly Hike In Colorado
Do you worry that your kids are getting a little too much screentime and not enough outdoor play? While temperatures are scorching hot and the threat of Covid-19 looms, there are still safe and fun ways to get the kids away from the tablets and out into nature, including the less-than-1-mile Colorow Mountain Forest Loop:
Tucked away near the must-see Lookout Mountain, Colorow Mountain Forest Loop is a short and sweet 0.6-mile loop trail that is guaranteed to be fun for the entire family.
Also known as just the Forest Loop, the Colorow Mountain trail is located near Golden and travels along a smooth and easy-to-navigate path, making it a cinch for even the youngest of hikers.
When you hike the Colorow Mountain Forest Loop, keep your eyes peeled, as you never know who or what you will see during your adventure!
Do you want to make a day out of your outing? If so, we recommend packing a picnic and planning to sit and stay awhile, as there are many shaded and comfortable places to set up camp.
In addition to the trail and its surrounding landscape, the Colorow Mountain Forest Loop also has easy access to the on-site Lookout Mountain Nature Center, which has everything from interactive exhibits to a hands-on playroom for kids, and an observation room.
Please note: As of this publication (and due to the pandemic), the Lookout Mountain Nature Center is closed.
