Colorado’s Grottos Trail Leads To A Stunning Oasis

Soaring mountains, vibrant meadows, breathtaking alpine lakes, magnificent desert scenery – Colorado is treasured for its jaw-dropping views and endless miles of hiking trails from which to explore them. But while our stunning parks are home to dozens of these iconic, bucket list-worthy sights – like the Maroon Bells and Bridal Veil Falls – our endless natural beauty stretches far beyond park borders. In fact, there are some incredibly lush surprises hidden in plain sight!

Nestled within the White River National Forest, the Sawatch Mountains tower over the Continental Divide and the sublime Aspen valley, creating a bold photogenic backdrop to the region’s namesake treeline. But while you may have visited this lovely area before, you might not realize that the gorgeous views aren’t just off in the distance – there are some pretty “cool” sights to see right beneath your feet! Bonus: this trail is also the perfect family-friendly side trip. Check it out:

The Grottos Trail in Colorado is the perfect family-friendly detour on your trip through Aspen. For this adventure (as with all travels!), remember to follow leave-no-trace principles, respect the landscape, and pack out all trash. Leashed pets only, please!
