Open Drive-In Movie Theaters Are Starting To Pop Up All Over Colorado
Since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, movie theaters (and pretty much everything else) across the country have been closed, leaving fans of the latest blockbusters with nothing to look forward to. Fortunately, the world is beginning to slowly return to “normal,” and drive-in theaters are starting to open all around the Centennial State:
Since the mid-20th century, drive-in theaters have been entertaining families around Colorado with the latest Hollywood movies and best movie theater snacks, all of which can be enjoyed from the comfort of your own car!
Sadly, with the advancement of technology and popularity of indoor theaters, drive-in theaters across the country are now a rarity, with only 330 left in America (9 of which are in Colorado).
Like all things Covid-19, there has been some confusion as to whether or not drive-in theaters could re-open amidst the pandemic, which was finally made clear this week.
After drive-ins began announcing their plans to re-open, Coloradans were met with gut-busting news saying that the theaters may be in violation of state laws, with Fox31
sharing a statement from the Colorado Joint Information Center that read “Under the Safer at Home executive order, drive-in theaters are considered entertainment and are not allowed to open."
Fortunately, things were cleared up by the next day, with Fox31 later
reporting that drive-ins met social distancing guidelines and could therefore operate legally.
That's right, folks: Governor Polis has given you the green light - if you are safe and responsible - to get out and enjoy a movie!
Not sure where your closest drive-in theater is? Believe it or not, there may be one in your neck of the woods, as the list of open theaters includes the
88 Drive-In (Commerce City),
Starlite Drive-In (Monte Vista),
