Dragon Boat Festivals are an iconic Chinese tradition that takes place on the 5th day of the 5th month of the Chinese calendar, making for an annual event that is beloved by many. Have you never seen this beautiful tradition in person? Now is your chance, as an authentic Dragon Boat Festival is coming to Colorado:
Taking place Saturday, July 23rd, and Sunday, July 24th (2022), the Colorado Dragon Boat Festival is a Denver tradition that pays homage to area Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities.
Located at Sloan Lake Park in Denver, the Colorado Dragon Boat Festival kicks off each day at 8 a.m. with - you guessed it! - can't-miss races!
This year, the event will celebrate the Year of the Water Tiger with an estimated 150,000+ in attendance, making it the largest Dragon Boat Festival in the country.
While cheering on the teams is reason enough to visit, the Colorado Dragon Boat Festival will also feature tons of food, a marketplace with shopping and exhibitors, live music, and more.
Please note: There is no on-site parking or shuttle this year, so please plan your trip accordingly.
Admission to the Colorado Dragon Boat Festival is free.
Colorado Dragon Boat Festival races begin each morning at 8 a.m., with the festival portion taking place from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
