12 Famous Movies You Probably Didn’t Know Were Filmed in Denver
Isn’t the Mile High City pretty enough to be on the big screen? Agree? Apparently we aren’t the only ones who think so, as several famous movies have been filmed in and around Denver, including:
1.) The Glenn Miller Story (1954)
Since Glenn Miller actually grew up in Colorado, it only makes sense that parts of the movie were filmed in his beloved home state!
2.) Vanishing Point (1971)
Parts of the 1970's cult classic were filmed in and around Denver.
3.) Sleeper (1973)
Who can forget this iconic Woody Allen film, which features the famous Sculptured House on Genesee Mountain, Denver Botanic Gardens, and the Table Mesa Laboratory of the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Boulder.
4.) Die Hard 2 (1990)
Poor John McClane almost lost his life (again) at Denver's old Stapleton Airport. Yippee-ki-yay!
5.) In the Line of Fire (1993)
Parts of the Clint Eastwood action flick were filmed in Denver's very own Civic Center Park.
6.) Things to Do in Denver When You're Dead (1995)
I found this interesting; only select scenes of "Things to Do in DENVER When You're Dead" were actually shot in Denver! Go figure...
7.) Larger than Life (1996)
Select parts of the Bill Murray comedy were shot in Denver.
8.) The Shining (Miniseries - 1997)
Though the Jack Nicholson classic wasn't actually filmed in Colorado, the television mini-series was! (In Denver, Arvada, and Estes Park, to be exact!)
9.) About Schmidt (2002)
Finally; a Jack Nicholson movie that actually did have parts filmed in Denver!
10.) Catch and Release (2006)
One part of this Jennifer Garner feel-good comedy was filmed at Boulder's Pearl Street Mall.
11.) Blades of Glory (2007)
Have you ever watched Blades of Glory and thought, "Hmm... that stadium sure look familiar..."? It's probably because it shot at our very own Pepsi Center!
12.) The Lucky Ones (2008)
In addition to several other US locations, The Lucky Ones was shot in Denver.
Did any of these titles surprise you?
