The One Place Near Denver That Looks Like Something From Middle Earth

When J.R.R. Tolkien penned his iconic Lord of the Rings and Hobbit series, he made the setting a mythical land full of lush greenery, dense forests, majestic purple mountains, and streams of crystal blue water… sound familiar? If I’m not mistaken, Tolkien’s Middle Earth sounds eerily similar to that of half of the state of Colorado, namely the large and stunning Rocky Mountain National Park (which is just a hop, skip, and a jump away from Denver!). See for yourself in this jaw-dropping 4K video of RMNP, shot and shared by Amazing Places on Our Planet:

We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life as we all practice social and physical distancing. We believe that supporting local attractions is important now more than ever and we hope our articles inspire your future adventures! Pretty spot on, right? (And is it just me or was Gollum totally creeping around the background in a few of those shots?) For even more Colorado whimsy, check out The Winter Horseback Riding Trail Near Denver That’s Pure Magic.
