Sherry Kent, the owner and baker at Showboat's, grew up in Michigan and trained at a culinary school in Portland, Oregon. But, in lieu of cooking at a fancy city restaurant, Kent prefers a quiet life near the mountains where she has been baking up fresh pies every day for more than seven years.

What could be better than ordering up a slice of the signature killer apple pie without leaving the comfort of your vehicle? If you're feeling adventurous and would like to try the popular green chili apple pie, make sure you arrive early as they sell out quickly.

While freshly baked pies are always available, it is suggested to order 24-48 hours in advance to ensure that the particular flavor you are wanting will be ready for you when you drive up. Customers can order online or by calling 970-887-1111.

What could be better than a warm slice of pie on a cold day after skiing? But then again, pie would be perfect in the summer for a picnic in the mountains. Showboat's Drive By Pies is open from 12 p.m. - 6 p.m. Thursday through Monday during the winter, and every day in the summer.

When driving through, you can order up a slice of the day for $5 or take an entire pie with you with prices ranging from $28-45, depending on the flavor. Homemade Raisin bread is also available ($7 for a small loaf and $10 for a large loaf).

They also offer an "emergency pie kit" that comes with a cutter, forks, plates, and napkins. Because, let's be honest, sometimes you're just going to need to go ahead and slice that pie up and devour it on your car ride home.
