Time is a truly mysterious concept, and one I’m not sure I’ll ever fully grasp. It often seems to go by so slowly, and yet we look back and wonder how it all happened so fast. Which is why I’m completely mesmerized by video techniques like time-lapse, slow motion, and looping. Photographer Ryan Dravitz’s creation, “A Day in Denver: A Time-Lapse Project,” is a superb artistic expression of life in the Mile High City. The striking skyline, stunning architecture, steadfast mountains, and sheer vibrancy and liveliness of Denver are exemplified, and the music by John Paesano that accompanies it is powerfully executed. In the end, all I can think of are Gandhi’s wise words, “There is more to life than increasing its speed.” Time’s always moving, but all we ever have is right here and now.
