One Of The Biggest Names In Boxing Grew Up In One Of The Smallest Towns In Colorado
The town of Manassa, Colorado, has a population of under 1,000 people. It’s kind of out there, too – it’s in the middle of the southern part of the state, about halfway between Trinidad and Pagosa Springs, and roughly 30 minutes south of Alamosa. This small Colorado town was the birthplace and childhood home of one very famous person: boxer Jack Dempsey. Although Jack Dempsey died in 1983 and didn’t box for many years prior to his death, he is still considered to be one of the greatest boxers of all time, and he is, without a doubt, one of the most famous people from Colorado. The fact that Manassa, Colorado is his home town is the source of great pride for the people of Manassa!
Jack Dempsey is one of the world's most famous boxers. He competed from 1919 to 1927 and was World Heavyweight Champion from 1919 to 1926.
