While one can always beat the Colorado summer heat by just staying inside an air-conditioned house (or car), there is a much better way, like making a splash in Colorado’s favorite all-natural swimming hole, the Devil’s Punchbowl:

Located off Independence Pass near Aspen, the Devil's Punchbowl may have one of the most sinister names in Colorado but proves to be anything but.

Access to the Devil's Punchbowl can be found just past mile marker 50 on Independence Pass Road (Highway 82).

Once you have parked, you can take an easy 2.2-mile out-and-back trail to and from the Punchbowl, which is best used from April until September.
