Once the sight of a deadly Civil War battle, Prairie Grove Battlefield State Park is now touted as “one of the most haunted places in Arkansas.” Not surprisingly, it’s believed to be haunted by the soldiers slain on its grounds; however, they’re not the only spirits roaming the property. Talk about a double whammy! Monte Ne is a ghost town that’s purportedly inhabited by ghost. The supernatural stories are linked to several Monte Ne graves, which were relocated in the 1960s, when the Beaver Dam was constructed. Legend says that the ghosts of those graves’ inhabitants roam the Monte Ne site.

A historic, still-working gristmill, which now includes a restaurant and gift shop, War Eagle Mill is easily among the state’s most charming locales. It’s also one of the most haunted. The two most-repeated tales associated with the mill involve the ghost of a Confederate soldier and a poltergeist. And don’t assume a daytime visit means a ghostly encounter is out of the question.
