The Arkansas Sphinx Trail is a roadside hike just south of the Haw Creek Falls Recreation Area near Hagarville. The trail is only .4-miles long but manages to gain over 900-ft. in elevation in that short trek. It's an out-and-back trail so remember after you've gone up you'll need to dramatically descend to get back to the parking lot.

After you've scrambled uphill the formation loses its shape but the experience isn't over yet. The formation has room to walk around as well as climb up to see more.

If you manage to climb the monolith, you'll be able to understand why this spot was used as a lookout by Native Americans and settlers. The lower formation under the Sphinx is referred to as the "Eye of the World," and we can see why!
