Talk about a blast from the past! Spudnut Shoppe opened in the 1940s and has barely changed since. And why would it?! It’s known far and wide for its signature potato flour-based donuts, which many refer to as the best donuts in all of Arkansas.
Spudnut Shoppe is in El Dorado, where it’s been since 1948.
The fact the shop has withstood the test of time is pretty impressive, especially when you consider that there were once dozens of Spudnut Shops scattered throughout the U.S.
The original Spudnut Shop opened in Utah in 1946. And though the parent company went out of business long ago, you can still find the iconic donut shop in several states.
Worth a drive from any part of the state, the shop’s potato flour donuts – a.k.a. spudnuts – aren’t thick and dense like most potato flour-based donuts. Instead, they’re light, fluffy, and downright delicious.
