One thing about Arkansans is we know how to have a good time. Hence the reason we host so many festivals throughout the year. Now, I must admit some of our festivals are quite the extravaganza. For instance, the one-of-a-kind Goat Festival is perhaps the quirkiest event in our state. There are many other festivals that are unlike any other, one of them being the Mt. Nebo Chicken Fry Festival held at Mt Nebo State Park in Dardanelle. This longstanding themed festival in Arkansas has been going strong since 1948, and if you haven’t yet been, it’s time for you to experience it for yourself.
Mark your calendars for Saturday, August 19 for the 76th Annual Mt. Nebo Chicken Fry Festival. Over the years, this long-running festival in Arkansas has attracted folks from all over the state.
In fact, many politicians frequented the festival to try to impress voters from Yell County. It was quite the political extravaganza.
This quirky "Chicken, Pickin and Politickin" festival is sponsored by Tyson's Chicken and celebrates the thriving poultry industry in the Arkansas River Valley.
The company's award-winning chefs will prepare delicious chicken strips, smoked chicken as well as some yummy sides. The festival is free to attend, but there will be a small fee for the dinners.

As a family-friendly event, you can expect a day full of fun activities for everyone.
There will be live entertainment and music from local talent. You'll be happy to know that this year, Governor Huckabee’s band, Capitol Offense, will be highlighting the event.
Other events include a 10K Race up the mountain, horseshoe and cornhole tournament, motorcycle show, chicken calling, chicken scramble, and so much more.
Plus, chicken costumes are welcomed and there will be lots of photo opportunities, so be sure to have your camera ready to capture some adorable pics.
Grab the entire family, bring your blankets and lawn chairs to this free event of the Summer. Enjoy the views from atop Mount Nebo and indulge in a delicious chicken dinner.
