Some playgrounds prohibit bicycles, but not Bentonville Bike Playground. It’s the opposite, actually. The playground was specifically designed for kids on bicycles. It sounds like a unique concept, and that’s because it is. At the time of the playground’s construction, it was the country’s first-ever bike playground.

The playground’s unique design was conceptualized by Progressive Bike Ramps. The name might not ring a bell, but you're likely familiar with the company's work since it's responsible for bike ramps in parks and on trails all around the world.

As you can imagine, building the bike playground wasn’t cheap. In fact, the project was nearly scrapped before it began due to lack of funds.

Luckily, though, the Walton Family Foundation and Visit Bentonville stepped in and provided grants to build the playground.

And while Progressive Bike Ramps built the playground equipment, Bentonville Parks and Recreation added the picnic tables, benches, and nearly 40 trees that provide shade for riders.
