Hike To This Peak For Some Of The Best Views In All Of Arkansas
Beautiful views are never far away when you’re in Arkansas. From the tallest mountain to below the surface, this state has plenty of good angles. Take Mt. Nebo for example. Every side of this state park is gorgeous but our favorite place for jaw-dropping views is Sunset Point. Take a photo worth a million bucks or just sit and stay awhile.
We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life. While we continue to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, please take proper precautions or add them to your bucket list to see at a later date. If you know of a local business that could use some extra support during these times, please nominate them here: onlyinyourstate.com/nominate

It's one of the oldest state parks in Arkansas and even had the first cabin rental in all of state park history. No matter if your trip lasts a week or just a few hours, you'll quickly have a new favorite park.

Two trails lead to this western point of the mountain, the Bench Road Trail and the Rim Trail. We enjoy the variety and pace of the 3.5-mile Rim Trail. This family-friendly hike will take about two hours. However, if you're just wanting an easy park-and-we're-there experience you can also reach this area by car. For a map of the park, visit this page.

Even on cloudy days the sights are pretty stunning. Drink in the surrounding mountains and Lake Dardanelle while you're perched atop this peak.

During summertime you'll want to plan to reach the point by about 8 pm. Sunset Point absolutely delivers for a beautiful view every evening. This area closes at 10 pm but that's still plenty of time to enjoy some early stargazing. If you're spending the night at Mt. Nebo be sure to plan a hike to Sunrise Point the next morning.

Take time to reconnect with nature and reflect during your hike (or drive) to Sunset Point. For more details about the park to plan your trip, be sure to visit this site.
