A day trip to your local family farm is one of the best outings to have during fall. Schaefers and Collins Pumpkin Patch is in the central part of the state so it's easily accessible to just about every Arkansan.
The farm is located in Mayflower, which is about 25 miles northwest of Little Rock. The Schaefers Family have farmed along Lollie Road Arkansas since 1971! They've cultivated quite the day trip for fall-enthusiasts, too.
You'll probably make the trip to pick a pumpkin or two but it's certainly not the only reason to visit.
Admission to the pumpkin patch is $6/kid which includes picking one pumpkin and taking a hayride. Adults wanting to pick a pumpkin is $7. For more information, you can visit the patch's website right here.
There's plenty of variety if you'd prefer shopping to picking.
The pumpkin patch has a ton of pumpkin and gourd varieties that are already picked for your convenience. Indian corn, corn stalks, straw bales, scarecrows, and any other fall decor you can imagine will be available as well. The prices of these vary but you'll be guaranteed to have the prettiest front porch on the block!
Schaefers and Collins also have a fantastic sunflower field for your fall photos.
The sunflowers should be peaking on opening weekend. You can take family photos in this field or in the neighboring cotton field. Professional photographers will be charged $25 for the natural backdrop but family snaps are free of charge.
Touring the farm and picking pumpkins will take up most of your trip but there are other areas to explore as well.
The pumpkin patch also has a barn filled with friendly critters to meet, a learning center focused on planting and farm equipment, and a large playground. Everyone can take a lunch break at Cozy’s concession stand, too. It's packed with fair foods like BBQ sandwiches, corn dogs, and fresh-squeezed lemonade.
The Schaefers also run the corn maze just down the road.
Have a whole other adventure by taking on the corn maze. The maze is comprised of two trails that zigzag about four miles through the field. This year's theme is "Harvesting Memories." Children ages 3 - 12 are $6 and adults are $8. For more information, you can visit the maze's website.
This full day of fun on the farm is just one of the trips you'll need to take this season.
Opening day for the farm's fall season is September 28th, 2019 and they'll be open until Halloween. For up-to-date activities and weather reports, follow the Pumpkin Patch and Corn Maze Facebook Pages.
