There’s A Little Slice Of Paradise Hiding Right Here In Arkansas… And You’ll Want To Visit
Within the Boston Mountains sits a wilderness area that master of wild places, Tim Ernst, calls “One of the most scenic areas in this country. And I do mean the United States.” Backpacker Magazine hails it as “Arkansas’s Waterfall Paradise.” They’re not talking about one of our more popular state parks, either. They’re referring to the Richland Creek Wilderness, and they’re absolutely right to call it a paradise.

We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life as we all practice social and physical distancing. While we’re continuing to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, we don’t expect or encourage you to go check them out immediately. We believe that supporting local attractions is important now more than ever and we hope our articles inspire your future adventures! J.B. Weisenfels has lived in rural Arkansas for three decades. She is a writer, a mom, and a graduate student. She is also an avid collector of tacky fish whatnots, slightly chipped teapots, and other old things. In her spare time she enjoys driving to the nearest creek to sit a while. If you were to visit her, she'd try to feed you cornbread.
