As one of the oldest refuges in the nation, visiting the area completely transports you to a different time.

The refuge was founded back in 1915 by Executive Order of President Woodrow Wilson. Besides the fact it wouldn't be at all surprising to see a small dinosaur roaming the land, it's home to some of the state's largest and oldest trees. You can hike to the largest Overcup Oak tree in the state by taking the short Champion Overcup Oak Trail.
In addition to the relaxing trails that meander around the refuge, there's also a variety of activities.

The area is primarily a hot spot for hunting and fishing, it's a great place to just sit and watch the wildlife for a while.
Although this is a relatively small portion of the entire region, it's a perfect spot to feel like you've reached a different world.
