Downtown Jonesboro is a thriving scene of modernity mixed with Arkansas history. The largest town in northeast Arkansas, Jonesboro itself is home to students, families with roots that go back for ages, and new residents looking for a comfortable and fun place to live while being just an hour’s drive away from Memphis. For a location that started out with the purpose of being another cotton town, Jonesboro has diversified its economy and itself over the years and has become a major point of reference in Arkansas culture.

The district includes 13 historic properties that represent a variety of architectural styles including Tudor Revival structures and Queen Anne Victorian houses. In 1982, the West Washington Avenue District was placed on the National Register of Historic Places.
