The Arkansas Honey Festival Is A Sweet Way To Celebrate Fall
cornbread to purple hull peas, Arkansas has no shortage of delicious food fests. The Bemis Honey Bee Farm on the outskirts of Little Rock will be hosting the 5th Annual Arkansas Honey Festival on October 5th, 2019. Let’s see what’s the buzz about as we overview this sweet event.
Bemis Honey Bee Farm will be buzzing with more than just bees at the beginning of October.
On October 5th, 2019 the farm will be hosting the 5th Annual Arkansas Honey Festival. Part educational and part entertaining, this food fest will have something for everyone. Events will be happening throughout the day from 9 am – 4 pm.
Spreading education and awareness are the main goals of this honey fest.
Workshops will cover everything from pollen to marketing. These classes are beneficial to beekeepers wanting to learn more about the trade. All levels of beekeeping experience are welcomed at these workshops.
Those wanting to learn more about beekeeping will have multiple chances to suit up and get some first-hand experience.
Sessions are divided into three areas: the classroom, bee yard, and honey house. Bring your own suit (or buy one at Bemis' Bee Store) to learn about hive prepping for fall, checking for mites, and winter feeding tips all in the bee yard. The honey house will feature different crafts with honey from brewing beer and meads to household cooking.
There will be plenty of ways to keep your busy bees occupied while at the festival.
The beekeeping education is certainly important but this is still a fun food fest. Live music and food trucks will be on site as well as kid-friendly activities. All ages are welcomed at this festival!
Three different contests will be taking place at the festival as well.
Enter your product for the honey, creamed honey, or mead contests held during the festival. People's Choice Awards will be given to the favorite honey and creamed honey competitors which means festival goers will have a chance to sample and vote for the best!
Stop by the free festival to celebrate Arkansas' local pollinators and indulge in a bit of sweetness.
