This Back Alley Pizza Joint May Just Be The Best Kept Culinary Secret In Arkansas
We’ve covered tantalizing barbecue places and other savory pizza joints before, but perhaps the best thing about this particular place is that it doesn’t have to be categorized. Grateful Head Pizza is most definitely a pizzeria but its also the best kept culinary secret in the state. Let’s head to the dead end that holds this Grateful Dead-themed joint and take a bite of their mouthwatering grub.
Nearly every place on your Hot Springs bucket list can be found on Central Avenue, except for Grateful Head Pizza that is.
It's just behind Central Ave., at the dead end of Exchange Street. Technically Grateful Head isn't an Arkansas original (its the second location of an Oklahoman joint), but you won't be worried with technicalities as soon as you've had a bite of their delicious pizza. Visit the Grateful Head Pizza and Beer Garden at 100 Exchange St., Hot Springs, AR 71901.
The whole place feels like a hip museum after you walk through the door.
Part of that is because of the Grateful Dead memorabilia lining the walls, the rest comes from the actual building.
Sitting inside the historic building is just fine but sipping on a brew in the beer garden is perfectly lovely, too.
The mountainside deck is a deliciously gorgeous setting for dinner and a show. The patio has featured all sorts of local artists from singer Sylvia Stems to the Foul Play Cabaret! Music can be heard nearly every weekend at Grateful Head.
The sandwiches, calzones, and giant salads are all tasty choices but you should definitely try one of their pizzas on your first visit.
The Rooster Cogburn is our favorite, it's a dazzling creation of ranch, smoked pulled chicken, roasted garlic, and veggies. Grateful Head also offers gluten-free crusts and even vegan cheese.
The endless choice of toppings are wonderful, but the real secret is in the crust.
Grateful Head's pizza crust should never be left discarded on your plate. The twisted dough is brushed with garlic butter, making it the perfect bread stick finish to every slice.
You'll know Grateful Head Pizza is a new favorite immediately after that first bite.
They're open from 11 am - 11 pm every day of the week. If you'd like to learn more about this fabulous pizza place, you can follow their
